훈민정음의 의미를 영국사람들에게 알려주었습니다.

세종대왕과 훈민정음에 대해 한글날에 우리가 배운 내용을 2021년 12월 11일 송년발표회때 학생들이 발표하였습니다. 영국 사람들에게도 자랑하고 싶어서 영어로도 알려주었습니다. 학생들이 이렇게 발표하였습니다.
한글은 세상 어떤 글자와도 다른 독창적인 글자입니다. Hangeul is a unique Korean letter, unlike any other characters in the world.
세종대왕에 의해 1443년에 발명되어 1446년에 반포되었습니다. King Sejong invented Hangeul in 1443 and proclaimed it in 1446.
세종대왕은 우리 글을 훈민정음이라고 불렀습니다. He named these letters ‘Hun-min-jung-eum’ which means the right sound to educate the people.
우리 학교에서는 한글을 배웁니다. We are learning Hangeul in our school.
세종대왕이 한글을 만든 이유를 들려드리겠습니다. Let us tell you why King Sejong created these special letters.

나랏말씀이 중국과 달라 문자끼리 서로 맞지 아니하다. The Chinese characters are unsuitable as it does not fit the Korean sound.
이런 까닭으로 어리석은 백성이 이르고자 할 바가 있어도 마침내 자신의 뜻을 펴지 못하는 사람이 많으니라. For these reasons, the untaught masses who wish to write are unable to express their wills.
내 이를 위하여 가엾게 여겨 새로 스물 여덟 자를 만드노니 모든 사람으로 하여금 쉽게 익혀 날마다 쓰기에 편안케 하고자 할 따름이니라. As I show compassion for the people greatly, I shall make these twenty-eight letters so that everyone will be able to read and write with ease.
